After little research...

You can install windows XP on Acer Aspire 4710 without USB floppy drive, just include the SATA driver to your Windows XP CD using nLite

Download nLite here...

Download SATA driver here...

nLite is a tool for permanent Windows components removal and pre-installation Windows configuration. After removal there is an option to
make bootable image ready for burning on cd or testing in virtual machines.
With nLite you will be able to have Windows installation which on install does not include, or even contain on cd, the unwanted compo
nents.

Features

  • Service Pack Integration
  • Component Removal
  • Unattended Setup
  • Driver Integration * (we need this)
  • Hotfixes Integration **
  • Tweaks
  • Services Configuration
  • Patches ***
  • Bootable ISO creation
Read nLite guides here ...

on guide part2 your screen must look like this :

Locate driver and select "Textmode",
then select "Intel(R) 82801GBM SATA AHCI Controller (Mobile ICH7M/DH)"

keep follow the guides ... and from nLite select direct burn to blank CD to build your new Windows XP CD with built in Acer Aspire 4710 SATA driver :) tested and 100% working!

Anyway, if you got external floppy disk, just follow instruction in my previous articles.
(For more information, read my previous articles in this blogs about "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer").
Acer Aspire 4520 seems not having any problems when installing Windows XP even it have been installed with SATA hard disk drives. All you need is just to download it's hardware drivers.

I've tried with Acer Aspire 4720 but it doesn't work...

I've used 3 SAAT drivers created for 4310 and 4710.

Hai ustaz, thnx for leaving a comment..

Actually, it's hard to use floppy drives to install SATA driver using F6 options. I also got same probs when trying to install Win XP using that methods. I suggest you to try to follow the steps given & make sure you use Intel(R) 82801GBM SATA AHCI Controller (Mobile ICH7M/DH)when you create new cd using nLite...

**TIPS 1 - Try using Win XP SP2 Pro version. I think this should work.

**TIPS 2 - You can also include all SATA drivers when you create new cd. This will gives high chances for Win Xp installation CD to detect your SATA hard disk drives.

hi..i have one question. is it this step can be used for acer 4315

I think u just need to change HDD mode in F2 settings from SATA mode to IDE mode because Windows XP can't read SATA mode.

Hi, I have a Acer Aspire 3680 laptop
and the default hard disk just crashed. So I bought a toshiba hardisk and reinstall XP. But I'm having errors in the installation
    1. It hangs on 'installation will be completed after 34 minutes'
    2. hangs in applying computer settings (final stage in XP installation)
    3. or when it is completed, it asks me for administrator password but I can't use the keyboard

So with this Is it because my installer lacks some drivers such as the touchpad, audio drivers? Can this be integrated with the nLite software as well?

    Many thanks.

Hi i have acer aspire 4710g and recently i got this error where when i turn it on it wont log on to window xp, the error was "...missing file or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
You can attempt to fix..." something like that and the only way to solve it is to use win xp cd and go to recovery console. With normal window xp it seems that acer cant detect something so i did that whole sata driver thing with nlite and it finally detect it.

Now the problem is when i am at the recovery console and it ask for which windows installation would you like to log onto, i type "1" and press enter, then it just stuck there for ages. So i gave up on that and try to reinstall window xp and on scanning the previous version of windows it also stuck there for ages.

Does this mean the problem is with the hardware?

    Thank you for your time.
